I have to give it to the two authors on their collaboration this book is a good read for teenage girls out there. The only reason I had even read the book was because another book I had wanted from PaberbackSwap had said I may enjoy this book as well, and I was like OK, I will give it a try. I did enjoy it for a fun and quick relaxing day of driving around.I personally love the dress code of Sophie's new High School and the skirts have to be only two inches above the knee and at least 14 inches in length (do girls own skirts that long anymore?). The dad's comment about having to get a whole new wardrobe since nothing in her closet would follow some of those wild and out there school dress regulations.
Though Sophie's relationship with her parents is rocky, well just very not parenting (she calls them Spooky and Summer) it seems they are trying to be more parenting with their big move to her dad's home town of Mythic while all she wants to do is go right back to her friends in LA, but then if I moved to a town where it seems they celebrate Halloween all year round I would want to move back home as well. Love the Characters the moments of laughter and even the saving of the girl you would all wish would just disappear from your own life.

Hex Education Emily Gould Zareen Jaffery Books Reviews
I had so much fun reading this book. The dialogue is wickedly sharp and funny. Perfect for summer reading for teens and tweens (actually perfect for hip twenty-something adults too, like me.) It just came out but I've already finished reading it because I could not put it down. You will LOVE this book. I want more, Emily & Zareen! I hope there's a series!
Hex Education was a very enjoyable read from the first page to the end. I didn't want this story to end. The plot of this story kept my interest the whole time while reading this book.
This story has a little bit of everything. Good witches, bad witch, spells, good friends and wonderful characters you will not forget.
I would love to read more books by these two authors.
This was my first Young Adult read and it won't be my last. Emily Gould & Zareen Jaffery got me wanting to read more YA and more books by them. I look forward to more books by these authors.
Sophie Stone has just been ripped away from all her friends and the only home she's ever known to live in Mythic, Massachusetts. It's just as creepy as it sounds. Things aren't looking good for Sophie being in a new town without any friends. Plus, weird things have been happening that Sophie tries to ignore.
I knew just by looking at the cute cover design that I'd like this book.
It was really cute and I hope to see this turn into a series or have a sequel.
Sophie Stone is forced to move from LA to her father's hometown of Mythic. Her father is a horror movie maker and her mom and dad seem to relish their spooky, yet kooky images. Sophie, however, wants nothing to do with anything supernatural. Soon after moving to Mythic, strange things begin to happen. Sophie finds that she has developing powers and is drawn to a group of other girls at school with similar powers. They discover that they are destined to form a coven and save the town of mythic from an evil witch.
While this was a light-hearted read, it was a bit too predictable for me. I knew who the evil witch was pretty early in the novel. I also found that Sophie was not a character with whom I felt a connection. I have no interest in a sequel unless I have nothing else to read. It was an OK story, but the authors could have spent a little more time developing the characters to truly draw the reader in. If I had the choice, I would have given this 3.5 stars. But, it definitely was not a 4-star read.
This was a feather-light, enjoyable tale of a teen who is transplanted from glamorous LA to the sticks (i.e., the fictitious town of Mythic, Massachusetts). Possibly based on Salem, MA, Mythic is a hotbed for witches and the occult.
At first, the protagonist came across as spoiled and unlikable, but then the plot took over and her personality improved. She finds herself at the heart of a group of practicing witches. With enjoyable overtones of teen movies, she falls for the cool bad-boy hunk who smokes clove cigarettes, while a sweet geek pines from the sidelines.
The story ends with an exciting twist. Overall, this is a fluffy, entertaining read.
Sophie's in for a rough year.
Not only have her parents decided to move across the country, but they're heading to the hometown of her father, Mythic, Massachusetts, a popular destination spot for horror fanatics.
She has no desire to be away from Los Angeles and couldn't be less interested in her parents' and the town's horror obsession.
However, she's about to change her mind. Sophie soon meets a group of girls who have the power to create anything their hearts desire. And they recognize the same characteristics in Sophie. Before long, they realize they must combat the evil witch who's creating the freak storms in town.
If you're interested in witchcraft, don't miss this one!

Hex Education is a fun, fast, witty read set in Mythic, Massachusetts (think Salem), where a new teen generation of witches has to band together to save their town and fight back against the bitchy Queen Bee. Sophie Stone, daughter of horror filmmaker Spooky Stone, at first just wishes she were back in LA, until she realizes that her witchy powers can not only grant her with new clothes but also the ability to vanquish her enemies. For a girl who's always tried to escape the occult and her parents' obsession with it, this is a big leap, but her fashionable new friends are there to rescue their school and town alongside her. With the help of a teacher witch, she and her new clique figure out the clues a special book provides them, though their powers don't make them perfectly psychic. I'm an adult reader, too, and got totally caught up in Sophie's story and couldn't wait to find out who the evildoer was--and if she'd wind up with hottie Linc (love that crazy name!) in the end. You'll have to read it to find out!
